What is Summary Dissolution?
Did you know there is a quick and easy way to get divorce that does not involve seeing the judge? It is called summary dissolution. In order to qualify for summary dissolution you must meet all of the following requirements.
First you and your spouse have been married for less than 5 years. Second, you and your spouse have no children. Third, you and your spouse do not own any land or buildings. Fourth, You and your spouse do not rent any land or building except for the place you live. Fifth, you and yours spouse do not owe more than $6,000 for debts acquired during marriage. Sixth, you and yours spouse have less than $40,000 worth of property. Seventh, you and yours spouse do not have more than $40,000 worth of separate property. Lastly, you and your spouse have agreed that neither spouse will receive spousal support and you have a signed agreement that divides your property and debt.
In addition, either you or your spouse must have lived in California for at least 6 months and in the county where you file for summary dissolution for the last 3 months.
